[Efecto de la fertilización nitrogenada en los patrones de bandas electroforéticas en variedades de trigo de primavera (Triticum aestivum L. Emend Fiori et Paol.)]

Abstract

Electrophoresis of seed storage proteins is on the techniques more used by seed analyst characterising and discerning between crop varieties. However, the relation between protein bands and nitrogen input is not completely clear. In this study has been analysed the effect of three nitrogen levels applied to mother plants in three spring wheat varieties on electrophoresis using gels SDS-PAGE 15% homogeneous and 8-18% gradient. Gels SDS-PAGE 8-18% gradient presented better banding patterns than 15% homogeneous, the bands were sharpener and darker with high nitrogen level, also some protein bands were unhidden from the faint protein bands in both kind of gels. These results suggest that nitrogen fertilisation has some effect in the protein banding pattern of electrophoresis, then seed analysts must be aware of this condition when analyse a seed lot
